ECONOMIC PROSPERITY & LIVELIHOODS

• Working to efficiently process the steady stream of short-term rental applications by recruiting additional staff and leveraging dashboard technology to track submissions and enforcement. The Division aims to expedite renewals and new applications, maintain clear communication with the public, and secure funding for further resource allocation and process improvements.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT & NEIGHBOURHOODS

Continuing to tackle illegal construction, which has remained a priority issue affecting neighbourhoods throughout the City. To improve enforcement, the Division has dedicated additional resources to monitoring problem properties and has expanded the ICET. The Division continues to collaborate closely with the Building Department and Building Inspectors to ensure efficient enforcement; and As the City continues to grow at a rapid pace, the Bylaw Division is investing in skilled officers and staff in support of public safety. The Division’s recruitment aligns with the City’s core values and employs a rigorous process to support employee success. The Division is focused on professional development, offers comprehensive training and education opportunities, and aims to set the standard for effective, community-focused bylaw enforcement among municipalities; and

• Actively reviewing the existing Noise

Bylaw to address community concerns. Working with other

departments, the Division aims to identify gaps and enhance strategies to strengthen response and enhance compliance.

PUBLIC SAFETY

The Bylaw Division prioritizes a community- and customer-focused approach to enforcement, education, and engagement. Visible officer presence, regular community events, and ongoing dialogue with businesses help build trust, improve public safety, and ensure efficient communication and transparent enforcement as the City grows.
