HEALTH & WELLNESS
• A Critical Incident Aftercare and Reintegration Program was created to help prevent occupational stress injuries like post-traumatic stress disorder, in employees following exposure to a traumatic event at work.
EDUCATION & CULTURE
• The SPS Youth Services Unit partnered with the Surrey Women’s Centre and Pacific Community Resources Society to develop Strength, Opportunity, Autonomy, Resilience (“SOAR”). Led by SPS’s new Exploitation Liaison Officer, this bold new presentation for students in grades 6-10 addresses issues of sexual exploitation and human trafficking; SPS continued to enhance its proactive youth engagement with the first SPS Student Police Academy, two Youth Basketball Camps, and the second annual SPS Soccer Camp; and • A group of female SPS officers launched the “EmpowerHer” workshops. These free women’s personal safety workshops provide instruction and hands-on training to build confidence and teach practical self-protection skills to women in the community. •
