2026 - 2030 Surrey Financial Plan

UTILITY OVERVIEW TRANSPORTATION

MISSION STATEMENT To improve the quality of life for those living, working or recreating in Surrey through a safe, efficient, equitable and sustainable transportation system where individuals can choose a variety of modes to travel comfortably and conveniently to their destination. KEY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Transportation services are delivered by the Engineering Department, which plans for current and future transportation infrastructure and services and ensures the safe and efficient operation of the system. The City is updating the Surrey Transportation Plan to set the strategic direction for transportation in Surrey. This work includes finalizing a Transit Strategy and advancing a series of action plans such as the Driving Action Plan, supported by congestion hotspot analysis and collision data to identify the most congested and highest risk intersections and corridors. These efforts will guide transportation priorities across the city. The Engineering Department delivers services ranging from award-winning winter maintenance, sweeping and road repaving, to planning and delivering infrastructure in support of transit, walking, cycling and automobiles as well as improving traffic flow through intelligent transportation systems, like our highly acclaimed Traffic Management Centre and Advanced Traveler Information System (“ATIS”).
