TRANSPORTATION

• Continued the delivery of the short-term Transportation Priority projects to reduce congestion, including: • Commenced construction of the initial pre-loading phases for the 72 Avenue extension between 152 Street and Highway 15 which will be delivered over multiple phases; • Awarded construction contracts for major transportation projects such as the 20 Avenue overpass, 192 Street in Campbell Heights and 132 Street widening; • Built 13 km of new sidewalks and 11 km of cycling pathways to support safer walking and cycling. Additionally introduced three new local bikeways in North Surrey with pavement markings and wayfinding signage, connecting Cedar Hills to City Centre, City Centre to Newton, and Green Timbers to Bear Creek; • Commenced construction on 64 Avenue improvements between 152 Street and 164 Street, and completed construction of 64 Avenue road improvements between 177B to 184 Street, adding road capacity to support safer and more reliable travel (estimated value $27.0M); • Began construction on road improvements along 72 Avenue in East Clayton, east of 188 Street to 196 Street, to improve capacity and traffic operations (estimated value $9.8M); • Completed improvements on 148 Street (58 Avenue to 64 Avenue), including pedestrian and cycling facilities, coordinated with the opening of a new elementary school; • Completed road improvements along 32 Avenue between 184 Street and 189 Street, to improve movement to Campbell Heights; • Completed capacity and safety improvements on 140 Street between 88 Avenue and 92 Avenue, including upgraded sidewalks and protected cycling facilities (estimated value $7.9M); and • Completed flood-mitigation and corridor upgrades on 152 Street between 40 Avenue and the 5000 block, improving roadway capacity, a twin bridge over Nicomekl River and climate resilience as part of the Disaster Mitigation Adaptation Works (estimated $40.0M).
