Community in Bloom Artist: Jag Nagra Location: Newton Athletic Park Category: Civic collection Installed: 2025
Jag Nagra’s Community in Bloom is a vibrant wrap-around mural that celebrates South Asian culture, sports, and a connection to nature. Stylized marigold flowers— painted on the east and west facades —hold deep symbolism in South Asian culture and their inclusion cultivates a sense of belonging and representation. The south facade showcases a range of sports, which are central to Newton Athletic Park’s identity. The north facade is a flowing composition inspired by nature that balances the vibrant energy of the park. Each of the four facades evoke warmth, joy, and a connection to community.
