City-Wide Special Events Get ready for another exciting year of vibrant community celebrations! As a City-Wide Special Events volunteer, you will help bring major events to life—like Party for the Planet, SPARK, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Canada Day, and many more. If you love being part of the action and making a difference, we would love to have you on board! Volunteer applications open January 2026! Our City Looking to make a positive impact in your community? Join the Individual Litter Cleanup, a flexible, self-led volunteer opportunity where you can clean up your neighbourhood on your own schedule. Whether you participate alone, with friends, or with family, you’ll be joining many others working to keep Surrey clean and beautiful! Volunteers will make sure to follow safety guidelines and nature etiquette while participating. This opportunity is open to all ages. Park Volunteer Programs Help keep Surrey parks beautiful and inspire others to take part! Join Friends of the Forest and Partners in Parks to help care for our parks. SPIRIT Program The Support Participation and Inclusion: Reach-out, Involve, and Transform (SPIRIT) Volunteer Program aims to:
Surrey Art Gallery Lead Inspiring Art Tours with Children – Become a Gallery Docent! We are seeking volunteers interested in art to lead engaging exhibition tours with children from kindergarten to grade seven. It’s a rewarding role, full of conversation and activities. Make new friends, learn about contemporary art, build skills, and contribute to community. Contact us at artsvolunteer@surrey.ca to apply. New docent training starts January 15, 2026. ESS on-call Volunteer Responder Emergency Support Services (ESS) is designed to provide immediate support to people affected by disasters. ESS offers short-term assistance including shelter, food, clothing and family reunification to evacuees displaced from their homes. In Surrey, the ESS Level 2 program (supporting larger scale emergencies) is delivered by staff and assisted by volunteers who connect directly with evacuees at temporary reception centres in City facilities. Volunteers must be 18+ to be part of this position. For more information, please email ESS2@surrey.ca ADAPTED SOCIAL RECREATION PROGRAM Volunteer to support children with disabilities in participating activities such as crafts, painting, games in the gymnasium and much more. Learn new skills in communicating visually and verbally to provide the best experience for participants. ADAPTED SPORTS Volunteer supports participants in sports such as boccia, para ice hockey, wheelchair basketball, and power soccer. Learn support strategies, learn new physical skills while having a great time.

Day Camp Volunteer Program Looking to build your skills, gain valuable experience, and make a difference in your community? Join us as a Day Camp Assistant in one of our recreation centres, and support City staff while being a positive role model for children. Choose from a variety of camps including sports, arts, dance, themed adventures, and more! Applications for Day Camps and Registered Programs open January 2026! Aquatic Volunteers An exciting new Aquatic Volunteer opportunity is relaunching! We are now accepting applicants for our Swim Instructor Volunteers. We are looking for qualified Swim Instructors who want experience teaching lessons. Must be available for the whole set of lessons. Swim Instructor Assistants play and important role in helping Swim Instructors teach their lessons. This includes stroke correction, leading games and activities and being active and wet in the water while promoting water safety skills. As the SI Assistant you are there to facilitate a positive learning experience for swim lesson participants. Volunteers must have a valid Bronze Cross and Swim Instructor certificate.
