VOLUNTEERING IN SURREY’S PARKS
Get outdoors and enjoy Surrey parks this winter! Surrey is home to over 800 parks, each offering something special. Stroll along scenic trails, picnic in open lawn areas, or marvel at protected natural areas dedicated to biodiversity. With so many parks and green spaces, there’s something for everyone to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature in Surrey. NEW & IMPROVED We are continually working to ensure our parks and trails are well designed and maintained to meet the needs of our growing community. Check out one of our newly opened or recently improved parks this winter: 1001 STEPS 12500 Block of 15A Ave | South Surrey We’re thrilled to announce the 1001 Steps Restoration Project is officially complete! Take the steps for access to breathtaking ocean views, where you can see local harbour seals and other wildlife. Whether you’re a morning walker, sunset chaser, or wildlife watcher, your next adventure starts here.

CARE FOR THE URBAN FOREST
CONTRIBUTE TO OUR PARKS AND FEATURE GARDENS
Surrey’s urban forest has over 100,000 shade trees and 4,200 acres of natural areas. Become a Friends of the Forest volunteer to help care for our urban forest by removing invasive plants, planting trees and more. surrey.ca/parkprograms | stewardship@surrey.ca Nature Work Parties All ages Join us in helping to restore and improve Surrey parks by removing invasive plants. This is a great opportunity to meet others, earn volunteer hours, and make a positive difference in your community. All tools and training will be provided, and drop-in volunteers are welcome. Community Tree Planting All ages Help grow the urban forest by planting trees and shrubs with us this spring break! It’s a fun, hands-on way to care for the environment and connect with your community. All tools and instructions are provided. Dress to get dirty. Join the SurreyYouth Stewardship Squad and help take care of Surrey’s urban forest! You’ll get to plant trees and shrubs, remove invasive plants, take part in community science, and more. Urban Forestry Leaders 18yrs+ Become an Urban Forestry Leader and support environmental stewardship projects and events across Surrey. Receive training in urban ecology, ecological restoration, and nature interpretation. Build skills, gain experience, and make a positive impact! Applications open January 2026. Garden Work Parties 16yrs+ Join our head gardeners as we tend to Surrey’s stunning feature gardens! Learn valuable skills like pruning, weeding and more. No experience needed—everyone is welcome.Tools and training provided. Feature Garden Volunteer 16yrs+ Support with feature garden openings and events like our open houses at Darts Hill Garden Park and Mother’s Day weekend atThe Glades Woodland Garden. Learn more about these unique gardens, gain event experience, meet new people, and make an impact in your community. Park Care Team Surrey is a big city, and it takes everyone working together to keep it clean and beautiful. Park Cleanup events are held over spring break and throughout July September. Sign up to be kept up to date on when cleanups are offered.

CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL
When you visit a Surrey park, make sure you pack out all your waste.This includes food wrappers, scraps, and packaging, including take-out containers and pizza boxes.
