E5 Legislatively Required OCP Updates

Periodic updates to an OCP will occur as a result of external factors or requirements, including, but not limited to the following:

• Housing Needs Report: Updates are required to integrate a municipality’s Housing Needs Report into the OCP, to ensure that the OCP plans for sufficient housing units to meet the housing needs over the next 20 years.The Local Government Act requires a Housing Needs Report to be updated every 5 years. The next full update to the Housing Needs Report is due in 2028, followed by the next five-year OCP update in 2030. • Regional Growth Strategy: Within two years of the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors’ adoption of a Regional Growth Strategy , each Member Jurisdiction must prepare or update a Regional Context Statement as part of its OCP and submit it to the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors for acceptance.
