OBJECTIVE

1.3 Increase the supply of purpose-built rental housing.

POLICY ACTIONS

1.3.1

Target a healthy vacancy rate of approximately 4 percent for purpose-built rental housing citywide.

1.3.4

Explore tools and/or mechanisms to support the development of new purpose built rental housing , including: a. Expediting applications; b. Reducing parking requirements; c. Waiving development fees and charges; or d. Providing financial or non-financial incentives.

1.3.2

Maintain or increase the number of rental units and bedrooms when existing purpose-built rental housing sites are redeveloped. Advocate to senior governments for policy and taxation changes that will encourage the construction of purpose-built rental apartments.
