Draft - Official Community Plan - Surrey 2050

Part D – Policies

D2 Transportation

Population growth and urbanization are reshaping Surrey’s transportation network of roads, sidewalks, transit and bike routes. While increased movement is positive, it also introduces concerns about heavier congestion and faster infrastructure wear. The City can meet these challenges and accommodate growth through careful planning, introducing more options for walking and cycling and creating better connections between neighbourhoods. This involves improving transit connections, making walking and cycling easier and completing the road network to reduce congestion while encouraging more active transportation . Key actions include filling sidewalk gaps, expanding rapid transit and adding cycling infrastructure that support the development of complete communities. Safety, accessibility, sustainability and maintaining a state of good repair remain top priorities. Objectives in this chapter align with Vision Zero Surrey and the Climate Change Action Strategy .

Goal: Surrey has a safe, efficient, and connected transportation network that provides mobility choices for all.
