Part D – Policies

D4 Community Infrastructure

Community infrastructure refers to the amenities, facilities, and services that support the daily needs, well-being and social lives of residents. This infrastructure includes schools, hospitals, recreation centres, sports fields, parks , museums, libraries and heritage buildings. These create community, foster social connections and provide residents with opportunities to engage in arts, culture, recreation and heritage-related activities. Surrey’s community infrastructure must keep pace with the city’s growth and serve the diverse needs of its residents. The City will focus new infrastructure and services in densely populated areas, growing communities and underserved neighbourhoods. Objectives and policy actions in this chapter align with the Parks, Recreation and Culture Strategic Plan , the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy, and the Greenways Plan.

Goal: Surrey’s community infrastructure and facilities meet the needs of a diverse and growing population.
