OBJECTIVE
4.2 Use urban design to create a cohesive, attractive and people oriented urban form and public realm.
POLICY ACTIONS
4.2.1 Ensure new developments exhibit a high standard of urban design, landscape architecture and architecture, with particular attention to creating vibrant, safe, accessible, sustainable, distinctive and beautiful public spaces . 4.2.2. Ensure new developments are sensitive to their context to enhance the livability of neighbourhoods and public spaces . 4.2.3 Ensure new developments are compatible in scale, massing and architecture with adjacent sites. 4.2.4 Ensure new developments respond to the DP1: Form and Character (see Appendix 2) guidelines and any supporting content.
4.2.5 Foster and establish a distinct character for City Centre and each of the Town Centres by establishing, promoting,
preserving and enhancing unique characteristics such as architectural styles, heritage elements, social gathering spaces, places of worship, landmark buildings, landscapes or signs.
4.2.6 Provide healthy and comfortable public outdoor spaces and reduce urban heat by supporting measures to ensure the healthy growth of shade trees.
