As a successful engineer who runs two companies, it was a tough decision for Avi to decide to run for Surrey City Council. It was a decision driven by his love for this city and, as a young business owner, he sees the potential in the community and believes Surrey is capable of becoming one

of the leading cities in the world. He himself has worked hard to get where he is today and hopes he can be a role model for many to do the same. City Council is a natural extension for Avi as he manages his companies and understands how much hard work and dedication it takes to make a difference. He hopes to be able to help shape a Surrey we can all be proud of and is excited to be a fresh voice on the Bruce Hayne and Integrity NowTeam.

Doug Elford is running with the Safe Surrey Coalition. Doug works as an environmental protection officer in the City of Vancouver. He’s lived in Surrey for 32 years. Doug is a grassroots community activist with a proven track record. In addition to being part of the Newton Community Association

he’s volunteered in the local sports community, including the Newton Canadian Baseball Association. He believes it’s time for strong principled leadership in Surrey. We need Skytrain, Surrey’s own Police Force, and smart development. People have told Elford there needs to be more balance on city council. The public wants to be heard. He pledges to build a public service that is fair to all people in Surrey. Doug will work towards a safe, liveable community for all. He also believes Surrey is at a crossroads and can’t afford to continue offering special favours for developers at the expense of affordable housing.
