Brenda Locke – Political Candidate

FACEBOOK

Brenda Locke has lived in Surrey for 38 years and raised her children here. She’s volunteered in many capacities including with the Surrey Urban Mission as Vice Chair. Brenda has over twenty-five years of experience in an Executive Director capacity where she advances high profile

issues province-wide. Locke previously represented Surrey as a Provincial MLA and Cabinet Minister from 2001 to 2005. Brenda is running with the Safe Surrey Coalition. She believes growth in Surrey has been exponential, uncontrolled, and poorly managed leaving too many people behind feeling marginalized and ignored. We need a City Council that cares about these things and we certainly want to be safe in our own city. Community, Sport, Service and Faith groups, who contribute so much to the fabric of our city are challenged to keep up, sometime even they’re discouraged from fully participating in our community. It’s clearly time for positive change.

I am 35 years old and a lifelong resident of Surrey. I am an electrician and I live in Grandview Heights with my partner and precocious 2 1/2 year old. This is my first entry into politics and I am running with Proudly Surrey. After watching how civic politics work in this town, I came to

the conclusion that the system is broken. Proudly Surrey is the only party that spoke of the changes that are required to make Surrey a place for the many, not the few. I would like to concentrate my efforts on making our hometown a vibrant center for the arts, be it performing, fine or culinary. I want to make Surrey a place where ideas come to blossom.
