Amanda Smith-Weston is a 3rd generation Surrey student, having attended preschool to University here in her home city. Her 3 sons currently attend schools in both French Immersion and English. Amanda has over 25 years of volunteer and work experience within the City

of Surrey and School District, and has spent 18 years volunteering in SD36 classrooms as a mentor and teacher’s aide. She has been involved in the PAC, DPAC, CPF, and as a parent education coordinator for a non-profit preschool. As a youth worker with the YMCA, Amanda teaches life and employability skills to Surrey students. She collaborates with parents, youth, and staff to create safe, equitable environments. Amanda has a BA in Anthropology, with Distinction, and is a Director on the KPUAA Board. She believes that the best way to learn is through engagement, and actively works to create inclusive spaces for innovation and growth.

My name is Garry Thind, and I’m seeking re-election as a Trustee with the Surrey School Board. I’ve lived in Surrey for 19 years, and my wife Nav and I have 3 beautiful children who attend McLeod Road Traditional Elementary School here. It has been my pleasure to serve the parents and students of Surrey as a Trustee for the last four years. I have

served as past President for the Rotary Club of Surrey, and I’m currently serving as a head of the BC region for Pingalwara Society of Ontario, a non-profit charity, where I have raised over 3.5 million dollars since 2002. With over 15 years of management experience, presently I’m self-employed as a full-time Realtor with Century21 Coastal Realty. I’m determined to fight for Surrey schools to receive the resources we need and deserve, and to ensure that they are run efficiently and effectively. I look forward to the opportunity to serve again.
