ESS On-Call Volunteer Responder

City-Wide Special Events The City-Wide Special Events volunteer program is underway and full of exciting and diverse celebrations! Highlights this spring & summer include Party for the Planet, SPARK, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Canada Day, and Fusion Fest. If you are interested in being part of the fun next Spring, volunteer applications open in October 2025.

Day Camp & Registered Programs

Emergency Support Services (ESS) is designed to provide immediate support to people affected by disasters. ESS offers short-term assistance including shelter, food, clothing, and family reunification to evacuees displaced from their homes. In Surrey, the ESS Level 2 program (supporting larger scale emergencies) is delivered by staff and assisted by volunteers who connect directly with evacuees at temporary reception centers in City facilities. Volunteers must be 18+ to be part of this position. For more information, please email ESS2@surrey.ca English Conversation Program Are you passionate about helping others and interested in promoting cultural diversity and inclusion in the community?The English Conversation Program (ECP) offers a positive and welcoming environment for newcomers, and people from diverse backgrounds, to practice English and meet others in the community. We are looking for individuals with strong communication and leadership skills to plan, lead, and facilitate an 8-week free English Conversation Program offered in select libraries.
