SURREY POLICE SERVICE

Established the annual SPS Youth Soccer Academy with 75 youth

• Recognized the outstanding contributions of over 40 police officers and civilian staff at the third annual SPS Awards and Recognition Ceremony. The Cedar Award was introduced to recognize employees who embody the Indigenous spirit of the cedar through their actions as Guardians (advancing public safety), Providers (exemplary community engagement), or Healers (championing wellness); • Recognized four members of the SPS Road Safety Section for receiving the Alexa Award – All Star after • Collaborated in the establishment of an Advisory Budget Committee with the City of Surrey and Surrey Police Board to guide the financial plan for the policing transition; and • Participation in hundreds of community events, including Vaisakhi, Semiahmoo First Nation Walk for Truth and Reconciliation, Remembrance Day ceremonies, Cloverdale Market Days, Surrey Fusion Festival, Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley, Coldest Night of the Year, and many more. conducting more than 50 impaired driving investigations in one year;

attending a week-long soccer academy with first responders and community partners; • Initiated a partnership with the BC First Nations Justice Council to develop an online course on “Understanding Indigenous Culture for Better Professional Practices”. The course received provincial approval to become a policing standard training course for all police agencies in BC; • Designed and implemented the Frontline Advanced Skills Training (“FAST Track”) program for SPS recruits following their JIBC graduation. This three-year program focuses on tactical, traffic, and Launched a multi-level Enhanced Investigator Skills Program to progressively develop the investigative skills of SPS officers; • Launched diverse nametags to identify SPS officers who speak a second language. This initiative helps community members engage with police, should they not be comfortable communicating in English; • Continued to expand SPS’s employee support programs with more staff added to the Critical Incident Aftercare Team and employees trained in reintegration. These programs support employees in dealing with the impacts investigative skill development to support new officers in providing excellent service to Surrey; •
