PUBLIC ART IN SURREY Discover public art in Surrey's parks and along pathways, SkyTrain pillars, and historic streets. Over 100 public artworks are completed. More are added every year. Throughout Surrey, you'll find interactive and illuminated contemporary sculptures, engraved boulders, colourful mosaics, and much more. Surrey's Public Art Program brings art into the daily lives of Surrey's citizens.

Huckleberry Breath Artist: Anja Nov Location: Latimer Park Category: Civic collection Installed: 2024

Huckleberry Breath is an artwork created by Anja Nov, a Croatian-Canadian artist/geographer, as an ode to the huckleberry. Installed on the washroom façade at Latimer Park, this artwork celebrates ecosystems in Surrey that allow red huckleberries to flourish. Anja points to the plant's resiliency and its sensitive, shallow and radiating root system, as a network that thrives in distinct locations. Drawing inspiration from the characteristics of the huckleberry, Anja reflects: “Let it remind us that embracing our sensitivities means maintaining our liberation; resisting places that don’t nurture us means thriving in places that do.”
