The Leisure Access Program provides an opportunity for City residents in financial need to participate in Parks, Recreation and Culture activities at a very low cost. To qualify for the program applicants must be City of Surrey residents and must meet income limits. MY FUN PASS During the school year, kids 2–12 years can enjoy unlimited city-wide access to drop-in swimming, skating, gym activities, MYzone, MYgame after school, on weekends, during holidays or any time school is out. Automatically expires June 30, 2019. $11 per month

SUMMER FUN PASS For one flat fee, keep the entire family active over the summer. Valid for regular priced drop-in activities in the gym, pool, arenas, or fitness centres. On sale June 1.

Adopt-A-Playbox Live 5-2-1-0 Playboxes are located at different parks around the City. Each box contains play equipment that residents can access for free to stay active. Volunteer to check on your local Playbox twice a month by reporting any missing or damaged equipment, cleaning the box, reporting vandalism, and promoting the playbox in the community. Adopt-A-Playbox individuals or organizations will be recognized on the City of Surrey website. For more information email beactive@surrey.ca.

SURREY’S BEST Walking Trails With the weather improving and more daylight hours, spring is a great time to get out and explore over 100 km of walking trails within Surrey parks.

All of our fitness centre attendants are BC Recreation & Parks Association certified. They are also equipped to assist patrons with fitness centre orientations, equipment demonstrations, basic education and guidance. Bear Creek, Sunnyside and Greenaway outdoor pools open May 13. Admission for public swimming at outdoor pools is always FREE! Community Recreation Services Instructors who work with children ages 6-12 years are certified in High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development. The City of Surrey offers over 90 year long preschool programs in 25 locations across the city. 14600 Block of 100 Avenue This park is ideal for those who love to walk in forested areas and around a lake with over 10 km of trails and new ones added in 2018. Additional parking is open at a new lot accessed from 100 Avenue.

Mud Bay Park 13030 148 Street Birders and visitors alike will enjoy the chance to see shorebirds and waterfowl along this scenic walk in Canada's most Important Bird Area: Boundary Bay. Mud Bay park also connects along 20km of shoreline to Boundary Bay Regional park in Delta.

NATURE TRAILS Spot an owl or an eagle’s nest and watch for returning salmon at Bear Creek Park; discover the wetlands, grassland meadows, marsh and lake at GreenTimbers Urban Forest Park; or take in the diverse habitats at Hawthorne Park. YOUTH PARKS Whalley is home to three youth parks—KwantlenYouth Park, Chuck BaileyYouth Park and Bear CreekYouth Park—offering a variety of skateboard and BMX features for all skill levels. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Kennedy Park,Tannery Road Park, Bolivar Park, and the new Forsyth Park inWhalley offer dog off-leash areas with plenty of space to roam and play. Before you unleash your dog in the designated park space, please remember the off-leash etiquette. WATER PARKS Bridgeview Park, Bear Creek Park and Hawthorne Park spray parks are activated by push buttons when it is warmer than 20 degrees Celsius. Both areas offer many additional amenities, such as walking paths, sports fields and picnic areas. In the summer, don’t miss Bear Creek Park’s train and mini golf facility. OUTDOOR POOLS Enjoy a free public swim or book your summer swimming lessons at Kwantlen Outdoor Pool. Check online for dates and operating hours. TENNIS COURTS Check out the public outdoor tennis courts located throughout Whalley and City Centre. Some are lit for night time use until 10:30 pm. See map for locations. VICTORIA PARK BIKE PARKS Quibble Creek Greenway features a small pump trail, which is great for honing skills like cornering and jumping. Explore the gardens in Bear Creek Park, including specialty floral, ornamental grass and shade garden beds, or marvel at the various horticultural beds in Holland Park. Community Garden is at the northwest corner of Cedar Grove Park inWhalley. Drop by to explore the seasonal plantings and to chat with the local gardeners. NATURE TRAILS Tynehead Regional Park consists of rolling meadow and forest on the banks of the Serpentine River providing an ideal habitat for owls, hawks and coyotes.The river offers views of spawning salmon.The new Surrey Bend Regional Park is located on one of the few remaining large, un-diked sections of the lower Fraser River, delivering a treasure trove of ecological sights and sounds. NATURE TRAILS Take a 30-minute stroll along the 1.8 kilometre nature trail around Fleetwood Park, offering visitors peaceful reflection within its urban forest. More beauty can be found in the tranquil setting of the Charles Richardson Nature Reserve— one of the best places in the City to see waterfowl.The new Godwin Farm Biodiversity Preserve Park, which is home to a variety of bird life, offers a looping trail network where you can explore natural assets including riparian areas, rare trees, an old fruit garden and a pond.

YOUTH PARKS The FleetwoodYouth Park is located at the Surrey Sports & Leisure Complex. It is plaza style, featuring a drop in, mini quarter pipe; slappy wall with rails; as well as boxes, free standing rails and a small amphitheatre with edges.The park also has a basketball half- court with lots of seating. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Freedom Dog Park lives up to its name, providing over 1.25 hectares (3 acres) of open space for free running your dog. The park provides a balanced terrain with lots of grass and open gravel areas as well as a looping trail through the forest. Fleetwood water playground and spray park, and then enjoy a picnic and wildlife spotting around Fleetwood Creek.
