MESSAGE FROM Mayor Brenda Locke As summer arrives in Surrey, I’m pleased to share the 2026 Summer Recreation Guide – your starting point for a season packed with fun, fresh air, and plenty of ways to make a splash. Our city continues to grow, and so does the range of programs and services available to our residents. From sports and fitness to arts, culture, and outdoor activities, this guide offers something for all ages, interests, and abilities. Last year alone, residents booked more than 30,000 swim lesson spots, while more than 10,000 children took part in our Summer Day Camps. We’re committed to ensuring our programs are inclusive, accessible, and affordable, so everyone feels can take part in what Surrey has to offer. This year, residents can once again take advantage of priority registration, making it easier to secure a spot in the programs that matter most to you and your family. Across the city, there are also many ways to stay active and enjoy the warmer months without added cost, whether that’s exploring our parks and trails, spending time in local green spaces, or cooling off at our outdoor pools. This is the perfect time to get outside, try something new, and spend time with family, friends, and neighbours. Parks, Recreation and Sport Tourism Advisory Committee The Parks, Recreation & SportTourism Advisory Committee provides advice to Council on strategies and activities related to parks, recreation, diversity, inclusion, sport tourism and seniors’ services in Surrey. The Committee is comprised of two members of City Council, one Surrey SchoolsTrustee and volunteer members who are City of Surrey residents and appointed by the Mayor and Council.

CODE OF CONDUCT The Code of Conduct outlines the behavior expected from all visitors, including participants, coaches, parents, volunteers, and spectators that visit our Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities. Treat everyone fairly and equitably Engage in fair play by respecting the rules of the activity and the facility Use language and engage in behaviour that encourages participation. Abusive or disrespectful language will not be tolerated Behaviour that frightens, demoralizes, or negatively affects the self-esteem of anyone will not be tolerated Refrain from using cell phones, cameras, or video recording devices in washrooms and changerooms Use of the facility while intoxicated, as well as use or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs within the facility is prohibited Respect public property and the property of others Follow facility rules related to public health guidelines, notices, and orders Individuals and/or organizations who do not adhere to the Code of Conduct will be requested to leave the facility immediately. Depending on the severity of the incident, a further ban from all City facilities may be imposed.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL FEES: There is a $15 withdrawal fee for most programs if you withdraw within seven days of the program’s start date. Leisure Access Program The City of Surrey’s Leisure Access Program helps make recreation more affordable for Surrey residents. If you or your family are experiencing financial challenges, you may be eligible. Choose the application method that best aligns with your circumstances. Once approved, you’ll receive discounts for drop-in and registered programs at all City run recreation facilities. Language support is available; if you have questions and would prefer to speak in another language, free translation services can be provided. Cool off in an outdoor pool, play your favourite sport or take an arts class at one of our recreation centres. Explore scenic trails, have a picnic or take a walk through the display gardens in our parks. Come enjoy a sunny afternoon at Goldstone Park in Newton’s Panorama neighbourhood. The water playground is a fun way to cool off on hot summer days.The park also has soccer fields, tennis courts and an Equip Sport station where you can borrow free basketballs for a quick game. A 575-metre path encircles the fields, and there are picnic tables and washrooms close by.
Sunny days are perfect for Freedom Dog Park, where your dog can run and play off leash in more than 1.25 hectares of open space.There are grassy and gravel areas to explore, and a forest trail for a relaxing walk. Covered seating and a water tap for dogs make visits easy and comfortable for you and your pet.
South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre is a great place to get creative during the summer.You can take pottery classes in the studio with a kiln to make your own projects. Drawing, painting and other art programs let your imagination come alive, and dance classes add fun and movement.The centre is a lively place for arts and activities all summer.

Summer at Cloverdale Athletic Park is full of activity, with plenty of space for sports and family fun.You can use the turf and grass fields to kick a soccer ball, practice or play a game with friends.The park also has a bike park, spray park, playground and picnic shelters, so it’s a great place to spend time outside.
Get outside and explore new paths with WALKit, Surrey’s free guided walking program. Friendly group walks let you get moving, meet new people and see neighbourhood highlights along the way. There are beginner walks, a weekly 55+ group and Punjabi-language walks. Want to walk on your own?The WALKit web map shows routes you can explore all summer.
Darts Hill Garden Park in South Surrey is a 7.5-acre garden full of rare plants, shrubs and trees, with another seven acres to explore. It was started by Francisca and Edwin Darts and has been cared for over 75 years. The park is open Friday-Sunday until September 27. It’s also a host for Sounds of Summer, so visitors can enjoy live music amidst the beautiful garden atmosphere.

RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES We offer a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Get out and explore our nature trails and gardens, public tennis courts, youth parks, spray park, bike trails, public artworks. Stay active for life and experience the unique blend of nature, recreation, and art in Surrey.
Whalley, including City Centre, boasts nearly 40 parks, each offering its own unique experience! Whether you’re exploring the scenic trails and riding the miniature train at Bear Creek Park or indulging in birdwatching amidst the lush forests of Al Cleaver Park, there's no shortage of outdoor adventures that await in Surrey’s bustling hub!

NATURE TRAILS Spot owls, eagle nests and returning salmon at Bear Creek Park; explore the wetlands, meadows and lake at Green Timbers Urban Forest Park; or experience diverse habitats at Hawthorne Rotary Park. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Bear Creek Park, Kennedy Park, Tannery Road Park, Bolivar Park and Forsyth Park offer designated dog off-leash areas with plenty of room to run and play. Enjoy seasonal garden displays at Bear Creek Park, Hawthorne Rotary Park and Holland Park. Community Gardens Whalley is home to Cedar Grove Organic Community Garden and Queen Elizabeth Meadows Community Garden. Learn more at surrey.ca/communitygardens. YOUTH PARKS Whalley is home to three youth parks—KwantlenYouth Park, Chuck BaileyYouth Park and Bear CreekYouth Park—offering a variety of skateboard and BMX features for all skill levels. WATER PLAYGROUNDS Spray parks at Bridgeview Park, Bear Creek Park and Hawthorne Park operate by push button when temperatures exceed 20°C and are located near walking paths, sports fields and picnic areas. OUTDOOR POOLS Enjoy a free public swim or book your summer swimming lessons at Kwantlen Outdoor Pool. Check online for dates and operating hours. PICKLEBALL/TENNIS Check to see what public outdoor courts are located in your neighbourhood. Some are lit for night time use until 10:30pm. BIKE PARKS Quibble Creek Greenway features a small pump trail, which is great for honing skills like cornering and jumping. Cycle your way to fun and fitness!Try our recommended bike routes with options for all ages and abilities: surrey.ca/cycling. DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS Freedom Dog Park lives up to its name, providing over 1.25 hectares (3 acres) of open space for free running your dog.
